STOCKTON ENDS SKID WITH TWO VICTORIES

Richard Stockton (5-4) halted a three-game skid with a 17-0 victory over Centenary and a 9-4 win over Delaware Valley in Florida. The Osprey offense broke out with 26 runs on 24 hits in the two games.

Nick Scalise (Northfield/Mainland) led the rout of Centenary by going 2-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) went 2-4 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Barry Larro (Cedarville/Cumberland) and Shawn Kessler (Bayville/Central Regional) added two hits apiece.

Already leading 4-0, the Ospreys broke the game open with seven runs in the third frame, highlighted by a two-run double from Scalise and an RBI single by Asta. Stockton plated four more runs in the fifth frame and two in the seventh for the 17-0 final.

Gage Mick (Bridgeton/Cumberland) allowed just one hit and struck out 11 in seven innings pitched for the win. Bill Barron (Hamilton/Steinert) tossed the final two innings to seal the combined three-hit shutout.

Travis Marra (Toms River/TR East) led the offense against Delaware Valley as he went 3-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI. Larro and Mike Wasco (Riverside/Riverside) also contributed two hits apiece. Zack Brebner (Toms River/TR North) earned the win, allowing two runs and three hits while fanning four in six innings pitched.

Stockton jumped on top 4-0 with four runs in the second inning as Andy Oliver (Penns Grove/Penns Grove) provided the key blow with a two-run single. The Ospreys clinched the game with four more runs in the top of the ninth for the 9-4 triumph. Marra stroked an RBI single in the inning.
