STOCKTON BLANKS OLIVET 8-0 AND LASELL 3-0 |

Olivet boxscore / Lasell boxscore Richard Stockton (7-1) posted a pair of shutouts in Florida as the Ospreys blanked Olivet 8-0 in five innings (eight-run rule) and Lasell 3-0. The Ospreys have allowed just seven runs, six unearned, in eight games thus far. Freshman Brittany Ksiezopolski (Hillsborough/ Hillsborough) pitched her second shutout in two college starts, allowing just four hits against Olivet. Jessica Goncalves (Union/Union) and Heather Corica (Iselin/JFK) each went 2-2 with a run and an RBI while Grace Long (Egg Harbor Twp./ EHT) blasted a two-run homer. Goncalves gave Stockton a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the third inning. Long blasted her third home run of the year in the fourth frame to increase the advantage to 3-0. The Ospreys brought the eight-run rule into effect with five runs in the fifth inning. Katelyn Derewecki (Hillsborough/Hillsborough) sparked the outburst with a two-run single and Stockton cruised to the 8-0 whitewash. Two Osprey hurlers combined to shut out Lasell 3-0. Starter Michelle Pietrocola (North Brunswick/ North Brunswick) struck out eight and yielded just one hit in five innings for the win. Freshman Stephanie Hand (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) allowed four safeties but fanned five in two scoreless innings for a save. Nicole Chabak (Marlton/Cherokee) went 2-3 including a home run and drove in all three runs in the game. Joey Afflitto (Brick/Brick) was 2-3 with a double and a run scored for the Ospreys. Afflitto led off the bottom of the first with a double, then stole third and scored on Chabak’s RBI single. Stephanie Darrow (Marlton/Cherokee) started the fourth inning with a double and Chabak followed with a two-run homer that made the score 3-0. Lasell loaded the bases with none out in the sixth frame but Hand worked out of the jam by striking out three straight batters. |
