OSPREYS SWEEP ST. SCHOLASTICA 11-1 AND 5-4 |

Richard Stockton (7-4) swept a doubleheader from St. Scholastica by scores of 11-1 and 5-4 to extend its winning streak to four games. Mike Wasco (Riverside/Riverside) paced the Ospreys with five hits and six RBI in the twinbill. Wasco went 4-5 with two doubles and four RBI in the opener. Nick Scalise (Northfield/Mainland) went 4-4 while Justin Gordon (Brick/Brick Memorial) and Dan McGuckin (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.) also contributed three safeties apiece to Stockton’s 19-hit attack. In the fourth inning, Scalise stroked an RBI single and Gordon followed with a two-run single to increase the Osprey lead to 5-0. Wasco, McGuckin and Travis Marra (Toms River/TR East) each registered RBI hits in the sixth frame to make the score 8-0. Wasco ripped a two-run double in the seventh inning and McGuckin followed with an RBI double to seal the 11-1 victory. Winning pitcher Drew Holt (Toms River/TR South) tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts to collect his third victory of the season. In the nightcap, Stockton opened up a 5-1 lead with three runs in the third inning. Mark Jankowski (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) ripped an RBI triple, and Marra and Mike Bush (Manahawkin/Southern) added RBI hits. St. Scholastica scored one run in the fourth inning and two in the fifth but Stockton pitcher Adam Warburton (Sewell/Washington Twp.) held the Saints off the board for the last two innings as Stockton held on for the 5-4 triumph. Warburton scattered seven hits and fanned seven in a complete game for the win. Marra and Jankowski each finished 2-3 in the contest. |
