Two Ospreys were rewarded for their stellar play in Florida. Stockton senior Mike Wasco (Riverside/Riverside) was named NJAC Baseball Player of the Week and freshman Brittany Ksiezopolski (Hillsborough/Hillsborough) was chosen NJAC Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week. Wasco batted a team-high .550 in seven games played for the Ospreys in Fort Pierce last week. The first baseman went 11-20 at the plate and led Stockton in RBI (10), walks (6), slugging percentage (.800) and on-base percentage (.630). Wasco also scored six runs and hit his first home run of the season. He hit safely in all seven games, including two multi-hit games, to extend his current hitting streak to 10 contests. Wasco is batting a team-best .515 and also leading Stockton in slugging percentage (.758), on-base percentage (.622), RBI (15), walks (10), doubles (5) and home runs (1). Stockton won its last six games in Florida to improve to 9-4. Ksiezopolski got her career off to an impressive start by pitching shutouts in her first two college appearances. The rookie hurler tossed a five-hitter with four strikeouts in a 4-0 victory over SUNY Potsdam in her debut on March 13. Ksiezopolski then pitched a four-hitter with two whiffs in an 8-0 win over Olivet College (MI) on March 15. Ksiezopolski pitched a total of 12 innings last week without giving up a run or walking a batter. She also held opponents to a .209 batting average while posting a perfect 0.00 ERA. Stockton began the season in Fort Myers, where the Ospreys went 9-1 including the two victories by Ksiezopolski. |
