Game 1 / Game 2 / Video Highlights

Richard Stockton (19-11, 2-10 NJAC) was upended twice by Rutgers-Camden (12-13, 5-7) in an NJAC doubleheader.

The Ospreys yielded six unearned runs in the ninth inning and fell 12-7 in the first game. Rutgers-Camden completed the sweep by edging Stockton 2-1 in the second game.

Stockton led 6-5 in the opener when Amanda Cassella scored on an error in the top of the fifth, leading to extra innings.

The Ospreys had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the eighth as Nicole Chabak (Marlton/Cherokee) flied out to centerfielder Lauren Hatzelhoffer, who then gunned out a Stockton runner at the plate who tried to score the winning run after tagging up.

Rutgers-Camden capitalized on three Stockton errors and a passed ball to score six runs in the top of the ninth. Vicki D’Anduono and Christina Tamburrino stroked RBI hits in the outburst, which propelled the Scarlet Raptors to the 12-7 victory.

Earlier, Rutgers-Camden broke out to a 3-0 lead on one hit, an RBI single by Erika Drayton, plus a sacrifice fly by Cassella, two hit batsmen and a walk in the first inning. Stockton came back with six tallies in the second frame to go ahead 6-3. Bianca DiDolce (South Plainfield/South Plainfield) doubled in two runs while Heather Corica (Iselin/JFK) and Katelyn Derewecki (Hillsborough/Hillsborough) knocked RBI singles.

Cassella slammed a two-run homer to center field in the third inning that started the Rutgers-Camden rally and made the score 6-5. Cassella finished 2-4 with three RBI while Drayton added two hits as well.

Stockton out-hit the Scarlet Raptors 14-8, led by Derewecki and Nicole Scanlon (Colonia/ Colonia) with three safeties apiece, including a triple by Scanlon. Pitcher Ashleigh Johnson earned the win, allowing just two earned runs (five unearned).

Cassella was the winning pitcher in the second game as she scattered seven hits, struck out four and also helped her own cause by going 2-3 at the plate to lead Rutgers-Camden to the 2-1 triumph.

The Scarlet Raptors were held to just five hits but gave Cassella all of the run support that she needed. Vicki DeGaetano (Hammonton/Hammonton) went 3-3 with an RBI for Stockton. Jamie Gasko (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) pitched well despite the outcome as she allowed one run on four hits in six innings.

Courtney Ray stroked an RBI single in the second inning to give Rutgers-Camden a 1-0 lead. Tamburrino slugged an RBI double in the top of the seventh for a 2-0 score.

DeGaetano came up with a clutch single in the bottom of the seventh to break up the shutout. The hit also put the tying run at second and winning run at first, but the game ended with a groundout to short on the next play.
