STOCKTON BLANKED TWICE BY #20 WILLIAM PATERSON

Jamie Gasko

Game 1 / Game 2

Richard Stockton (21-13, 2-12 NJAC) could not solve the pitching of #20 William Paterson (26-8, 9-5) as the Ospreys were shut out twice by the Pioneers, 2-0 and 3-0.

Stockton managed just seven hits in the doubleheader, with four coming off the bat of Jamie Gasko (Cinnaminson/ Cinnaminson).

Gasko went 2-3 and also pitched a complete game in the opener, scattering seven hits and striking out three. Nichole Terreri (Deptford/Deptford) went 1-3 with a stolen base for the Ospreys.

William Paterson scored two runs on three hits in the bottom of the first before Gasko settled in and blanked the Pioneers the rest of the way to give Stockton a chance to rally.

The Ospreys had their best opportunity to tie the game in the sixth inning. Katelyn Derewecki (Hillsborough/Hillsborough) singled with two outs and Grace Long (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) walked but the inning ended on a flyout.

Gasko registered Stockton’s only two hits of the nightcap and three additional runners reached base on two walks and a hit by pitch. William Paterson scored the only run that it needed in the third inning and added two insurance runs in the sixth frame for the 3-0 final.

Stockton had a chance to get on the board in the fifth inning. Gasko broke up a no-hitter with a leadoff single and advanced to third with two outs but was stranded on a groundout. Despite the outcome, Michelle Pietrocola (North Brunswick/North Brunswick) was solid on the mound, allowing three runs on six hits with four strikeouts.
