Richard Stockton (18-15, 6-8 NJAC) dropped a pair of NJAC games on the road at league leader Montclair State (23-11, 11-3) by scores of 10-5 and 8-3. Justin Gordon (Brick/Brick Memorial) led the Ospreys with two hits in each game.

Gordon knocked two hits and scored twice while Barry Larro (Cedarville/Cumberland) and Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) added two hits apiece in the opener.

Stockton jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Gordon earned an RBI with a bunt single, Mike Bush (Manahawkin/Southern) notched an RBI with a squeeze bunt and Larro singled in a run.

After Montclair State scored twice in the third frame, Stockton made it a 4-2 game on a squeeze bunt for an RBI by Nick Scalise (Northfield/Mainland) in the top of the fourth.

The Red Hawks took the lead for good with four runs in the bottom of the fourth and added three more tallies in the sixth and one in the seventh. Stockton plated a run on an RBI double by Scalise in the eighth inning for the 10-5 final score.

Gordon produced two of Stockton’s six hits in the nightcap and also registered a double and a run scored. Travis Marra (Toms River/TR East) extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a single and Larro boosted his streak of reaching base to 17 straight games with a hit.

Montclair State led 5-0 after four innings before Stockton tried to rally. In the fifth frame, Marra scored on a wild pitch and Shawn Kessler (Bayville/Central Regional) lofted a sacrifice fly for an RBI.

Asta stroked an RBI single in the sixth frame to get Stockton within 5-3 but the Red Hawks clinched the outcome with three runs in the bottom half for the 8-3 final.
