STOCKTON FALLS 17-5 IN SKYLINE SEMIFINALS

Fourth-seeded Richard Stockton (7-9) was overwhelmed by top seed Montclair State (10-5) 17-5 in the semifinals of the Skyline Conference tournament.

Matt Bologno (Glen Gardner/Voorhees) and Wade Veselka (Chesterfield/Northern Burlington) led the Ospreys with two goals apiece.

Dave Soule (Kinnelon/Kinnelon) added a goal and an assist. Freshman Eugene Isola (Monroe Twp./Christian Brothers Academy) won 18 of 24 faceoffs and scooped a game-high 16 ground balls.

Montclair State scored three goals in the first five minutes before Bologno got Stockton on the board. The Red Hawks broke the game open with six consecutive goals until Veselka halted the run with 16 seconds left in the first half.

The Ospreys trailed 9-2 at the break and did not score again until netting three goals in the last 3:19 of the game, one apiece by Veselka, Bologno and Soule for the 17-5 final score.

Stockton goalie Noah Morris (Brick/Brick Twp.) finished with 10 saves in the season-ending defeat. Each team attempted 40 shots but Montclair goalies Mark Glander and Michael Dorn combined for 18 saves. Despite the outcome, Stockton finished the season with seven victories, more than double its 2011 win total.
