Richard Stockton’s quest for a third consecutive ECAC Metro championship came to an end as the fourth-seeded Ospreys (21-18) were eliminated by top-seeded Stevens (24-17) 3-2 in the tournament semifinals.

The Ospreys were limited to just five hits and scored only on a two-run homer by Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson Memorial).

Dan McGuckin (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.), Nick Scalise (Northfield/Mainland), Justin Gordon (Brick/Brick Memorial) and Brett Solomen (Harrison Twp./Clearview) added one single apiece for Stockton.

Stevens took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a walk, stolen base and RBI single. The Ducks scored two more runs on four hits in the fourth frame for a 3-0 advantage. Stockton went hitless until the fifth inning when Scalise finally broke through with a two-out single.

In the sixth inning, McGuckin singled with two outs and Asta followed with his first home run since 2010 to pull Stockton within 3-2. Solomen singled in the eighth inning and Gordon stroked a hit in the ninth but the Ospreys were unable to produce the tying run and came up short in the season-ending 3-2 defeat.

Adam Warburton (Sewell/Washington Twp.) was solid despite absorbing the loss as he allowed three runs on 10 hits and struck out nine in 7.1 innings pitched. Tyler Courter tossed a complete-game five-hitter to earn the win for Stevens.
