MORGAN SINCLAIR NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

Richard Stockton sophomore Morgan Sinclair (Chadds Ford, PA/Unionville) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Women’s Track/Cross Country Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Sinclair, a member of the Stockton cross country and track & field teams, is a speech pathology major with a perfect 4.0 grade point average in her first two years at Stockton.

Sinclair earned NJAC Second Team honors in cross country during the 2011 season. The sophomore won the Delaware Invitational on September 17 for her first career victory and was named NJAC Runner of the Week on September 20 for her performance. Sinclair registered five top-10 finishes in the fall and she was the top runner for the Ospreys in all eight races.

Sinclair then competed in the distance events during the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons. She collected an NJAC Honorable Mention nod after placing third in the 5000m at the NJAC Indoor Championships. Overall, Sinclair posted two victories in the 3000m and one in the 10,000m while also competing in 1500m and 5000m races on the track.

Sinclair is the fourth Stockton student-athlete to receive Academic All-District 2 honors during the 2011-12 academic year. She joins previous selections Heather Corica (Iselin/JFK) in softball, Leah Braidi (Vineland/Sacred Heart) in women’s soccer and volleyball player Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown).

The Capital One Academic All-District program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. District 2 consists of NCAA Division III schools in Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, West Virginia and Washington D.C.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
