The Stockton men’s soccer team fell 3-1 to NJAC foe Montclair State on the road. Rafael Duarte (Ocean City/ Ocean City) notched his league-leading 15th goal of the season for the Ospreys, who have now lost three straight. The defeat also dropped the Ospreys into eighth place in the NJAC standings and seriously damaged their chances of qualifying for the six-team conference tournament.
Montclair State had a 1-0 lead at the half and went on top 2-0 at 49:14. Less than four minutes later, Duarte scored with an assist by Pat Tolomeo (Ocean City/Ocean City) at 53:05, but the Red Hawks added an insurance goal at 66:35 for the 3-1 final. Stockton goalkeeper Tim McKenna (Sewell/ Gloucester Catholic) made six saves in net for the Ospreys. Montclair outshot Stockton 21-6 in the game for its second straight win over the Ospreys, who had won the previous 10 meetings in a row. |
