The 22nd-ranked Stockton women’s soccer team scored twice in the second half and defeated Rutgers-Camden 2-0 in an NJAC women’s soccer tournament first-round game.  Leah Pocoroba (Galloway/Holy Spirit) and Laura O’Shea (Petersburg/Ocean City) scored one goal apiece and Ospreys’ goalkeeper Alex Rogers (Medford/ Shawnee) made two saves for her ninth shutout of the year.
 
Stockton was on the attack throughout the game but could not penetrate the Rutgers-Camden defense until well into the second half despite an 18-3 advantage in shots.  Pocoroba finally gave the Ospreys a 1-0 lead at 75:39 when she ran to the far post and tapped in a cross by Shelley Gibney (Shamong/ Seneca)O’Shea added an insurance goal on a header assisted by Courtney Dougherty (Ocean City/Ocean City) at 83:57 to seal the 2-0 victory for the Ospreys.
 
Third-seeded Stockton won its sixth consecutive game and extended its unbeaten streak to 11 matches (10-0-1), its longest undefeated run since a 13-game streak in 1998.  The Ospreys advanced to the NJAC tournament semifinals, where the Ospreys will play at second-seeded Rowan on Tuesday, October 30 at 7 pm.
