The Stockton field hockey team closed out the 2007 season with a 6-0 defeat at the hands of fifth-ranked College of New Jersey. Ospreys’ goalkeeper Debi O’Kane (Cologne/ Absegami) faced 30 shots and stood up to the heavy pressure with 13 saves. Samantha Horner (Newfield/ Buena) registered the only shot on goal for the Ospreys, but her blast from the right wing in the first half was denied by the TCNJ goalie.
College of New Jersey scored two goals late in the first half at 24:02 and 28:11 for a 2-0 lead at the break. The Lions added four more tallies in the second half for the 6-0 final score. The result brought an end to a difficult season for the young Stockton team, which consisted of no seniors and just three juniors to go along with 11 sophomores and six freshmen. |
