Amanda Altman

Boxscore
The 23rd-ranked Stockton women’s soccer team fell short 3-1 against third-ranked and undefeated College of New Jersey in the NJAC tournament championship game.  Amanda Altman (Beachwood/Toms River South) scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season in the second half and goalkeeper Alex Rogers (Medford/Shawnee) made 10 saves in the game.  The defeat snapped Stockton's seven-game winning streak and a 12-game unbeaten streak.

TCNJ quickly took a 1-0 lead with a goal just 9:26 into the match and Stockton later dodged a bullet when the Lions were awarded a penalty kick late in the half but the shot hit the crossbar.  Trailing by one, Stockton was forced to abandon its defensive game plan as the clock ticked down in the second half.  TCNJ capitalized by scoring two goals just over three minutes apart at 80:39 and 83:43 for a 3-0 lead.

The Ospreys finally broke through at 86:26 when Altman scored with an assist by Val Davison (Cranbury/Princeton) to spoil the shutout.  With the tally, Stockton became one of just four teams to score on TCNJ in 18 games this season.  Although the Ospreys were defeated 3-1 and finished as the NJAC runner-up, they received their second consecutive at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament.
