Boxscore
The Stockton women’s soccer team was edged 2-1 by York (PA) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, ending its outstanding season with an 18-4-2 record.  Laura O’Shea (Petersburg/Ocean City) scored her 10th goal of the season and goalkeeper Alex Rogers (Medford/Shawnee) registered four saves for the Ospreys.  Stockton made its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and hosted its first home game in the NCAA tourney since 1998.

All three goals were scored in the first 17 minutes of the game.  York quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a goal on a rebound 9:41 into the match.  O’Shea tied the game for Stockton by booting a 15-yard shot into the right side of the goal only 4:15 later.  York responded with the go-ahead goal just 2:13 after O’Shea had tied the game, and the Spartans protected their lead for 73 minutes to eliminate the Ospreys from the NCAA Tournament, 2-1.

The result concluded a fantastic season for Stockton, which tied its second-highest win total in school history, advanced to the NJAC championship game for the first time and finished just one victory short of the school record of 19 wins.  The campaign also included a 12-game unbeaten streak and saw the Ospreys nationally ranked on three occasions.

The NCAA game against York also was the final one for Stockton’s outstanding senior class of four-time NJAC All-Conference midfielder Val Davison (Cranbury/ Princeton), three-time NJAC All-Conference back Sharon Davis (Burlington/ Burlington Twp.), 2005 NJAC All-Conference player Katie Henderson (Williamstown/Williamstown) and goalkeeper Melissa Stuhler (Williamstown/ Williamstown).
