The Stockton women’s basketball team returned from a one-week layoff with a 70-57 loss to Susquehanna in a non-conference road game.  Lisa Neira (Cresskill/Cresskill) shot 9-13 from the field and scored a game-high 19 points.  Kelley Guarrera (Shamong/Shawnee) added 14 points and Jenn Russell (Scotch Plains/SP-Fanwood) finished with 10 points and five assists.  The Ospreys were hampered by 25 turnovers and out-rebounded 32-20 in the game.
 
Stockton scored just nine points in the first 15 minutes and trailed 18-9.  Neira sank a jumper to spark a 6-0 run that pulled the Ospreys within 18-15, but Susquehanna established a 27-21 lead at the break.  Neira led all players with 10 first-half points on 5-6 shooting.
 
In the second half, Ashley Hart (Pt. Pleasant Beach/Peddie School) drained a free throw and Guarrera followed with a bucket to give Stockton a 42-39 lead with 9:33 to play.  Susquehanna then reeled off 12 consecutive points for a 51-42 advantage with 5:51 on the clock.  Guarrera finally ended Stockton’s four-minute draught with a basket to pull the Ospreys within seven, but they could get no closer as Susquehanna pulled away late and won 70-57.
