The Stockton women’s basketball team topped Wilkes University 61-51 in a non-conference road game for its third win in its last four contests.  Jenn Russell (Scotch Plains/ SP-Fanwood) tied her career high with 19 points and registered five steals to lead the Ospreys.  Kelley Guarrera (Shamong/Shawnee) tallied 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds while Lisa Neira (Cresskill/Cresskill) contributed 12 points and seven boards.
 
Russell scored the first four points of an 8-0 spurt that gave Stockton a 16-9 lead midway through the first half.  Cehara Wellington (Cherry Hill/CH East) sank a layup just before the first-half buzzer to create the eighth lead change of the half and put the Ospreys on top 25-24 at the break.  Eight Stockton players scored points in the period, led by Neira with five markers.
 
In the second half, the Ospreys snapped a 32-32 tie with nine unanswered points, including four by Russell, for a 41-32 lead with 13:19 remaining.  Wilkes pulled within six points with 5:05 to play, but Russell responded with a layup for an eight-point cushion.  After the Lady Colonels closed the gap to six again with 3:12 to play, Russell scored consecutive baskets for a 58-48 lead and Stockton went on to the 10-point win, 61-51.
