The Stockton women’s basketball team fell short 68-64 in an NJAC home game against Rowan.  Lisa Neira (Cresskill/ Cresskill) played all 40 minutes and led the Ospreys with team highs of 22 points and four assists.  Kelley Guarrera (Shamong/Shawnee) contributed 16 points and Kristin Sciarrillo (Edison/Edison) dominated the boards with a career-high 16 rebounds to go along with eight points.
 
In the second half, Rowan scored 11 unanswered points for a 55-45 lead with 8:19 remaining.  Over the next three minutes, Stockton responded with its own 11-0 run during which Neira scored the final seven consecutive points as the Ospreys pulled ahead 56-55.  Rowan later snapped a 59-59 tie with two straight baskets for a 63-59 advantage.  Neira then drained a three-pointer to pull Stockton within one, but the Ospreys could not overtake Rowan in the final two minutes of the 68-64 defeat.
 
Neira led all players with 12 points in a close first half that featured eight lead changes.  The Ospreys held the biggest lead by either team after a Jenn Russell (Scotch Plains/SP-Fanwood) free throw gave them a 32-26 advantage.  Rowan eventually closed the gap to two points, but Neira ended the period with a three-point play to give Stockton a 37-32 lead at the break.
