Eddie Ortiz

Boxscore
The Stockton baseball team suffered its first loss of the season, 2-1 at Haverford as a trio of Fords pitchers limited the Ospreys to just four hits in the game.  Eddie Ortiz (Vineland/Vineland) went 1-3 with a stolen base and a run scored while Matt Allen (Salem/Woodstown) was 1-3 with a double.  Stockton lefty Scott Fisher (Toms River/TR East) was saddled with the loss despite 10 strikeouts in seven innings pitched.  Fisher allowed just two runs on five hits.

In the top of the first inning, Ortiz walked and later scored an unearned run on a sacrifice fly by Joe Sacerdote (Deptford/Gloucester Catholic) to give Stockton an early 1-0 lead.  Haverford answered with two runs in the bottom of the second to pull ahead 2-1.  In the eighth inning, Ortiz stroked a one-out single and stole second.  He advanced to third on a groundout, where he was stranded on an inning-ending groundout that squashed Stockton’s best opportunity to tie the game before the Ospreys fell 2-1.
