The Stockton baseball team pounded 37 hits and routed Philadelphia Biblical 34-1 in its final game before heading to Cocoa Beach for five doubleheaders. Craig Rich (Hamilton/ Steinert) went 5-8 at the plate with five runs and five RBI while Scott Fisher (Toms River/TR East) was 4-4 with a home run and four RBI. Joe Santillo (Budd Lake/Mt. Olive), Nick Corrado (West Deptford/Gloucester Catholic) and Matt Allen (Salem/Woodstown) also homered for the Ospreys.
Winning pitcher Pat Clark (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.) hurled a complete game and allowed one run on six hits with 11 strikeouts. Stockton scored six runs in the fourth inning to increase its lead to 10-1. The Ospreys tacked on a whopping 14 runs in the fifth frame. Allen, the second batter of the inning, blasted a two-run home run and Santillo later capped the 14-run explosion with a grand slam. Already leading 24-1, Stockton added 10 more runs in the next three innings for the 34-1 final score. |
