Outdoor Track & Field Season Begins With Stockton Invitational

The Stockton track & field teams began the 2008 outdoor track & field season by hosting the Stockton Invitational.  There was no team scoring at the meet.  Victoria Barden (Bayville/Central) led Ospreys with wins in the high jump (1.62m) and long jump (4.85m), and a third-place finish in the pole vault (2.90m).  Rachel Joseph (Livingston/ Livingston) won the pole vault (3.05m) and Stephanie Aromando (Newton/Kittatinny) won the hammer throw (43.80m) for Stockton.

Joseph also finished second in the javelin (27.28m) and third in the long jump (4.42m).  Katelyn Reiter (Union/Union) placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (17.18 seconds) and 400-meter hurdles (1:09.10).  Shelley Gibney (Shamong/ Seneca) finished second in the 200-meter dash (27.35 seconds) for the Ospreys.
 
Jordan Schafer (Pt. Pleasant Beach/Pt. Pleasant Beach) led the Stockton men’s team with a third-place finish in the hammer throw (38.52m).  Abad Akhtar (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) placed fourth in the 1500-meter run (4:19.65) and Nick Van Wattingen (West Keansburg/Raritan) was fourth in the pole vault (3.50m).
