The Stockton lacrosse team rallied from a five-goal deficit and won its Skyline Conference opener 12-11 over Farmingdale State in overtime. Keith Bologno (Glen Gardner/ Voorhees) led the Ospreys with four goals, including the game-winner, and two assists. Josh Dybus (Lyndhurst/St. Peter’s Prep) scored three goals and Matt Bell (Jackson/ Jackson) tallied two goals and four assists. Stockton goalie Pete Marcelliano (Morristown/West Morris Mendham) recorded six saves in the game.
Stockton trailed 5-0 before Bologno got on the board with two consecutive goals. The Ospreys faced deficits of 8-4 at halftime and 11-5 after three quarters. Dybus began the comeback with a goal eight seconds into the fourth period and Bell scored six seconds later to pull Stockton within 11-7. Jonathan Kelly (Howell/Howell) and Bologno then netted goals 34 seconds apart to close the gap to two, 11-9, with 13:14 remaining.
Bell scored an unassisted goal at the 8:31 mark and Anthony Bonjavanni (Howell/ Howell) tallied the game-tying marker with 1:25 on the clock to force overtime. Just 1:07 into the sudden-death OT, Bologno tossed in the game-winning goal with an assist by Dan Abbott (Fair Lawn/Fair Lawn) to give Stockton the thrilling 12-11 comeback victory. |
