The Stockton baseball team was doubled up by Ursinus 10-5 in a non-conference road game. Scott Fisher (Toms River/ TR East) went 2-4 with two runs and Matt Allen (Salem/ Woodstown) was 2-3 with an RBI for the Ospreys. Stockton held a 10-8 advantage in hits but was hampered by four errors that resulted in three unearned runs for Ursinus.
Stockton began its comeback from an early 4-0 deficit with RBI singles by Fisher and Joe Sacerdote (Deptford/ Gloucester Catholic) in the fourth inning to pull within 4-2. Ursinus scored once in the bottom of the fifth but the Ospreys responded with a run on an RBI single by Allen in the top of the sixth that made the score 5-3 in Ursinus’ favor. Stockton tied the game at 5-5 on a two-run single by Craig Rich (Hamilton/Steinert) in the top of the eighth inning, but Ursinus scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth and defeated Stockton 10-5. |
