The Stockton baseball team fell short 6-4 in an NJAC road game at 25th-ranked Rowan. Matt Allen (Salem/ Woodstown) went 3-4 with an RBI and Jeff Lundell (Henderson, NV/Kentridge (WA)) was 1-4 with a double and two RBI for the Ospreys. Stockton pitcher Joe Mihalyi (Hamilton/Nottingham) hurled a complete game and allowed six runs (two unearned) on nine hits in a solid outing.
Stockton jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Joe Sacerdote (Deptford/Gloucester Catholic) notched an RBI on a groundout and Lundell ripped a two-run double. After Rowan got on the board in the second frame, Allen stroked an RBI single in the top of the third for a 4-1 advantage. Rowan overtook the Ospreys with four runs in the bottom of the third and pulled ahead 5-4. Stockton managed just four hits over the final six innings and the Profs added an insurance run in the eighth for the 6-4 final. |
