| Skyline Conference tournament: Montclair State 13, Stockton 3 | ||
The fourth-seeded Stockton lacrosse team was eliminated from the Skyline Conference tournament with a 13-3 loss to top-seeded Montclair State in the semifinals. Keith Bologno (Glen Gardner/Voorhees) led the Ospreys with one goal and one assist. Jonathan Kelly (Howell/Howell) and Larry Andersen (Sicklerville/Winslow Twp.) added one goal apiece. Stockton goalie Pete Marcelliano (Morristown/West Morris Mendham) played 45 minutes and made 10 saves.
Early in the second quarter, Bologno and Kelly scored goals 14 seconds apart to pull the Ospreys into a 2-2 tie. The Stockton offense then went cold as Montclair State shut out the Ospreys for over 41 minutes and reeled off 11 consecutive goals. Anderson finally netted a goal in the last minute of the game to end the dry spell, but Stockton fell 13-3 for its second loss to Montclair State in five days. The Ospreys finished the 2008 season with a 7-8 overall record. |
