| NJAC Tournament: #8 Kean 14, Stockton 2 | ||
The Stockton baseball team was overwhelmed 14-2 by eighth-ranked Kean in the first round of the NJAC tournament. Chris Discher (Cherry Hill/CH West) went 2-4 with a run and Pat Goodwin (Mays Landing/Holy Spirit) was 2-4 at the plate. Jeff Lundell (Henderson, NV/ Kentridge (WA)) ripped a solo home run and Matt Allen (Salem/Woodstown) added a double for the Ospreys. Stockton managed just seven hits and committed six errors.
Kean took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Lundell led off the second frame with a solo home run to get Stockton on the board. Kean responded with four runs in the bottom of the second for a 6-1 cushion. The Cougars boosted their lead to 11-1 after six innings. In the top of the eighth, Discher singled and later scored on a double play for Stockton’s second run of the game. Kean tacked on three more tallies in the bottom of the eighth for a 14-2 final score. |
