Women Second, Men Eighth in NJAC Championships

Stockton hosted the NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at G. Larry James Stadium, with the Osprey women’s team finishing second with 151.50 points and men’s team placing eighth with 25 points.  Stockton female competitors won four events at the meet.  Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) repeated as the NJAC champion in the high jump (1.62m) and Megan Burak (Carteret/ Carteret) won the hammer throw (39.49m). 
 
On the track, Shelley Gibney (Shamong/Seneca) won the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.66) and Meredith Malloy (Hamilton/Hamilton West) won the 10,000-meter run (37:49.25) for the Ospreys.  Mike Powers (Pennsville/ Pennsville) led the Stockton men’s team with a second-place finish in the javelin (53.80m).  Tony DeFeo (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) finished third in the hammer throw (41.27m) and Abad Akhtar (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) was third in the 5000-meter run (15:30.03).
 
Kelly Rozing (Hazlet/Raritan) performed well, finishing second in the discus (35.02m) and third in the shot put (11.09m) and hammer throw (38.91m).  Victoria Barden (Bayville/Central) placed third in the javelin (23.87m) and tied for third in the high jump (1.57m).  Katelyn Reiter (Union/Union) contributed to the team effort by finishing third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.91), fourth in the triple jump (10.15m) and fifth in the long jump (4.75m).
