The top-seeded Stockton baseball team split its first two ECAC Metro tournament games.  The Ospreys fell to second-seeded Ramapo 10-5 in a winners’ bracket game.  Stockton then eliminated third-seeded Mount St. Vincent 5-0 and set a new school record with its 23rd victory of the season, breaking the previous mark of 22 wins last year.
 
Pat Goodwin (Mays Landing/Holy Spirit) went 4-5 with a double while Joe Sacerdote (Deptford/Gloucester Catholic) was 2-4 with a double and two runs against Ramapo.  Jeff Lundell (Henderson, NV/Kentridge (WA)) extended his hitting streak to 13 games by going 2-4 with a run and an RBI for the Ospreys.
 
Ramapo snapped a 3-3 tie with five runs on six hits in the seventh inning.  Stockton closed the gap to 8-5 on RBI singles by Goodwin in the seventh inning and Nick DiGirolamo (Dumont/Dumont) in the eighth frame, but Ramapo added two runs in the top of the ninth and shut down the Ospreys for the 10-5 final score.
 
Joe Mihalyi (Hamilton/Nottingham) pitched a two-hit shutout with a career-high 11 strikeouts in the 5-0 victory over Mount St. Vincent.  Matt Hunt (Marlton/St. Joseph) went 1-4 with two RBI and Goodwin was 1-3 with a double and a run scored for the Ospreys.  Sacerdote and Scott Fisher (Toms River/TR East) each went 1-3 with two runs apiece in the game.
 
Stockton jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three unearned runs in the first inning.  The Ospreys added two more in the third frame on an RBI groundout by Jeff Lundell and an RBI single by Hunt for a 5-0 lead.  Mihalyi retired 15 of 16 batters between the third and seventh innings and allowed just a pair of singles overall for his first career shutout as Stockton eliminated Mount St. Vincent 5-0.
