Stockton sophomore Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/ Oakcrest) finished second in the high jump at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Tack & Field Championships with a season-best jump of 1.67 meters (5’5.75”) that broke her own school record.  The meet was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.  Shepherd earned All-American honors for the third time in her career (2008 outdoors, 2008 indoors, 2007 outdoors).

Shepherd finished behind only event winner Crystal Blamy of Keene State (NH) who won at a height of 1.70 meters (5’7”) out of 17 competitors in the event.  Shepherd entered the competition ranked 12th in the nation based on a best jump of 1.66 meters (5’5.25”) during the regular season.  She cleared the first two heights, 1.59 meters and 1.64 meters, on her first attempt at each.  Shepherd went over the bar at 1.67 meters on her second try.

Shepherd finished as the NCAA national runner-up for the second consecutive time.  She also placed second at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in March.  Shepherd collected her first All-American honor with an eighth-place finish at the 2007 NCAA outdoor meet last May.
