Pat Tolomeo (Ocean City/Ocean City) scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute to lift Richard Stockton (2-0-1) to a 2-1 victory over Catholic University (2-1) in the first round of the 2008 Stockton Seashore Classic. The goal was Tolomeo’s first of the season and Brennan Fitzsimmons (Neptune/Neptune) registered the assist on the scoring play. Stockton goalkeeper Matt Hart (Dayton/South Brunswick) made one save in the winning effort.
Stockton opened the scoring in the 21st minute of the first half as Sean McCallum (Vineland/Vineland) scored his first goal of the season with Sean Nelson (Toms River/TR South) notching the assist. That would be the only scoring until late in the second half when Catholic tied the game at 1-1 in the 81st minute. Tolomeo netted the game-winner on a header following a cross by Fitzsimmons with just 5:57 left in the second half and the Ospreys remained unbeaten with the 2-1 triumph. |
