Stockton Finishes Second at Salisbury Tournament

Richard Stockton (11-5) went 2-2 and finished second at the Salisbury Sea Gull Classic over the weekend.  Audrey O’Donnell (Bogota/Immaculate Heart) and Amanda Burkart (Cresskill/Cresskill) were named to the All-Tournament Team.  Christine Aletras (Ridgewood/ Ridgewood) led the Ospreys to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-19 sweep of Swarthmore with 43 assists and 12 digs.  Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) tallied 14 kills and 13 digs while Audrey O’Donnell (Bogota/Immaculate Heart) added 13 kills and four blocks.
 
Stockton then defeated Virginia Wesleyan 25-18, 14-25, 25-14, 25-21.  At the net, O’Donnell notched 11 kills and four blocks and Anna Streicher (Marlton/ Cherokee) contributed seven kills and six blocks.  In the final round of pool play, Salisbury halted Stockton’s six-match winning streak 25-23, 25-16, 25-18.  Velott slammed nine kills while Streicher notched six kills and Aletras finished with 20 assists and 14 digs.
 
By virtue of its 2-1 record in pool play, Stockton advanced to face Salisbury in the tournament championship match.  The Sea Gulls again prevailed in three sets, 25-22, 25-16, 26-24.  Velott registered 11 kills and O’Donnell contributed nine kills, seven digs and six blocks.  Aletras registered 27 assists and 15 digs while Burkart smacked eight kills for the Ospreys.
