STOCKTON WINS NJAC CHAMPIONSHIP
Stockton def. Ramapo 25-11, 25-18, 25-16

Top-seeded Richard Stockton (29-8) won the NJAC championship with a 25-11, 25-18, 25-16 sweep of third-seeded Ramapo (17-16).  Amanda Burkart (Cresskill/ Cresskill) led the Ospreys to their seventh consecutive win and second league title in three years with 11 kills and nine digs.  Audrey O’Donnell (Bogota/Immaculate Heart) slammed nine kills and setter Christine Aletras (Ridgewood/Ridgewood) tallied 32 assists and 10 digs.

In the first set, Burkart led Stockton with four kills and seven digs.  The Ospreys reeled off the final six points of the set to win 25-11.  Ramapo jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second set but Stockton battled back as Burkart slammed five more kills in a 25-16 win. 

Stockton used a balanced attack in the third set with O’Donnell, Anna Streicher (Marlton/Cherokee) and Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) spiking four kills apiece as the Ospreys completed the sweep 25-16.  Stockton won its fifth NJAC volleyball championship overall (1996, ’99, ’00, ’06, ’08) and earned an automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA Tournament.
