NCAA Tournament:
#22 Salisbury def. Stockton 25-21, 25-9, 25-15

Richard Stockton (29-9) was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament with a 25-21, 25-9, 25-15 loss to 22nd-ranked Salisbury (36-1) in a first-round match at Juniata College.  Amanda Burkart (Cresskill/Cresskill) paced the Ospreys with 10 kills and 11 digs while Christine Aletras (Ridgewood/Ridgewood) finished with 22 assists and 12 digs for Stockton.

Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) smacked seven kills and Christine Astarita (Selden, NY/Newfield) led the Stockton defensive effort with 14 digs.  The loss ended Stockton’s seven-match winning streak and brought the season to a conclusion with a 29-9 record.  After winning the NJAC championship, the Ospreys made their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance.

Burkart spiked two early kills and the Ospreys jumped out to a 9-5 lead in the first set.  The teams went back and forth and were tied at 18 after a kill by Audrey O’Donnell (Bogota/ Immaculate Heart).  Salisbury responded with three consecutive points for a 21-18 lead and won the set 25-21.

In the second set, the Sea Gulls raced out to a 9-2 lead and later scored the final seven points to win 25-9.  Burkart spiked five kills in the third set but Stockton fell behind 10-5 and was unable to rally from the deficit as Salisbury completed the sweep 25-15.  The Sea Gulls dealt Stockton four of its nine losses during the season.  Seniors Aletras, Burkart, O’Donnell and Brooke Fleming (Manahawkin/ Southern) concluded their four-year careers for the Ospreys.
