Stockton 76, Wesley 60 | ||
Richard Stockton (1-4) collected its first victory of the 2008-09 season, winning its home opener 76-60 over Wesley (1-4). Ashley Hart (Pt. Pleasant Beach/Peddie School) and LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) notched career highs of 17 points apiece. Hart went 5-7 from three-point range while Oliver added 10 rebounds for a double-double. Jenny Fitzgerald (Rockaway/Morris Catholic) chipped in nine points for the Ospreys. Oliver scored five points during an early 7-0 run that gave Stockton a 19-8 lead seven minutes into the game. The Ospreys later led 33-20 after a three-point play by Monique Garcia (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) with 6:05 on the first-half clock. Wesley closed within 38-32 on a three-point play in the final minute of the half but Fitzgerald answered with a bucket to give Stockton a 40-32 edge at intermission. Oliver led all scorers with 13 first-half points, followed by Hart with nine markers. Hart drained two three-pointers and Oliver sank two layups as Stockton began the second half with a 12-3 spurt that resulted in a 52-35 lead for the Ospreys. Stockton went 9-11 at the line in the second half and led by at least 12 points over the final 16 minutes as the Ospreys broke out to their first win of the season, 76-60. |
