Neumann 76, Stockton 72

Richard Stockton (1-7) played its first game in 10 days and fell to Neumann (5-3) 76-72. Freshman LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) paced Stockton with team highs of 12 points and 10 rebounds for her second career double-double. Ashley Hart (Pt. Pleasant Beach/Peddie School), Kelley Guarrera (Shamong/Shawnee) and Monique Garcia (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) netted 10 points apiece for the Ospreys, who were just 5-11 (45.5%) from the free throw line.

Neither team led by more than six points in a game that was close from start to finish. After Neumann took a 27-21 lead in the first half, Stockton responded with seven consecutive points and took its first lead of the game at 28-27 on a layup by Aliyah Nelson (Pleasantville/St. Joseph). After three more lead changes, Neumann was on top 33-32 at the half. Guarrera topped the Ospreys with eight first-half points while Oliver contributed six points and six rebounds.

Neumann reeled off six unanswered points for a 47-41 advantage with 15:03 to play, but Stockton answered with nine straight points, including four by Kristin Sciarrillo (Edison/Edison), to pull ahead 50-47. The lead changed hands five more times before Hart drained a three-pointer to give Stockton its final lead, 67-65 with 3:16 remaining.  The Ospreys went scoreless for the next three minutes as Neumann tallied eight consecutive points and dealt Stockton the 76-72 defeat.
