Richard Stockton (2-7) snapped a three-game skid with a 61-59 victory over Susquehanna (8-2) in its final game before the holiday break. Aliyah Nelson (Pleasantville/St. Joseph) led Stockton with a career-high 13 points including a layup with 43 seconds remaining that put the Ospreys ahead for good. Jenn Russell (Scotch Plains/SP-Fanwood) scored 10 points and Julia Fagan (New Britain, CT/New Britain) chipped in eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Stockton led 56-53 until Susquehanna scored two straight baskets and rallied into a 57-56 lead with 54 seconds remaining. Nelson responded with a layup to put Stockton on top 58-57 and then she followed with a steal and layup to give the Ospreys a 60-57 advantage with 35 ticks remaining. After a missed shot by Susquehanna, Ashley Hart (Pt. Pleasant Beach/Peddie School) sank a late free throw for a four-point cushion and Stockton went on to the 61-59 win.

The score was tied 10 times as the teams exchanged baskets in the first half.  Russell hit a free throw to force a 28-28 deadlock but Susquehanna answered with a free throw and a jumper that resulted in a 31-28 deficit for the Ospreys at the break. In the second half, Stockton opened up a 45-39 advantage after a layup by Fagan with 9:38 to play, but Susquehanna fought back and eventually pulled ahead in the final minute before Nelson’s consecutive buckets propelled the Ospreys to the victory.
