Baruch 75, Stockton 64

Jenn Russell

Boxscore
Richard Stockton (2-9) made several runs but could never quite gain the lead in suffering a 75-64 defeat to Baruch (8-3). Jenn Russell (Scotch Plains/SP-Fanwood) paced Stockton with a career-high 20 points plus 10 rebounds for a double-double. Aliyah Nelson (Pleasantville/St. Joseph) scored a career-high 14 points for the Ospreys. Kristin Sciarrillo (Edison/Edison) and Kelley Guarrera (Shamong/Seneca) each contributed six points.

Baruch opened up a 20-11 lead in the first 12:25, but Russell scored six points and Nelson added four during a 10-2 Stockton run that pulled the Ospreys within 22-21. The rest of the half remained close, with Baruch holding a slim 31-29 lead at the break. Russell led Stockton with 10 first-half points.

Stockton staged a pair of rallies in the second half that fell just short. The Ospreys erased a 44-35 deficit with a nine-point run that tied the game at 44 after a pair of baskets by Russell. Katey Charmello (South Amboy/South Amboy) answered a Baruch three-pointer with a trey of her own, but the Bearcats then went on a 9-2 run that resulted in a 56-49 score.

Nelson later drained a three-pointer to cut the Baruch lead to just one at 61-60 with 5:28 remaining, but the Bearcats answered with a game-clinching 9-0 run. The resulting 69-60 Baruch lead proved too much for Stockton to overcome as the Ospreys fell 75-64.
