Stockton 62, Rutgers-Camden 55

Richard Stockton (5-14, 2-6) built an 18-point lead and held off Rutgers-Camden (1-16, 0-8) 62-55 in an NJAC home game for its third consecutive win. Aliyah Nelson (Pleasantville/St. Joseph) went 8-8 at the free throw line and scored a career-high 16 points. LaTonya Oliver (West Berlin/Overbrook) notched a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Julia Fagan (New Britain, CT/New Britain) tossed in 10 points for the Ospreys.

Stockton controlled the first half and forced 23 turnovers. Fagan scored six early points as the home team raced out to an 18-5 lead in the first eight minutes. Rutgers-Camden fought back to within 21-16, but Stockton scored the final 13 points of the half, including four by Oliver, for a 34-16 advantage at intermission. Fagan led all players with eight first-half points while Nelson and Oliver each contributed six markers.

In the second half, a basket by Oliver gave Stockton a 36-18 lead before Rutgers-Camden began to rally. The Scarlet Raptors went on a 10-0 run that cut the margin to eight at 36-28 and Rutgers-Camden continued to chip away, getting within 46-42 with 6:45 to play. Nelson responded with a layup, sparking a six-point spurt that ended with a basket by Oliver for a 52-42 Stockton lead. From there, the Ospreys stayed in front by at least six and Nelson went 4-4 at the line in the final minute to seal the 62-55 win.
