Richard Stockton competed in the Division II/III bracket at the Thomson Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware. The Stockton women’s team placed fifth overall while the Osprey men finished 11th. Meredith Malloy (Hamilton/Hamilton West) easily won the 5000-meter run (18:28.89) by 1:17 over the next closest runner. Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland) won the 1000-meter run (3:09.33) and Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/ Oakcrest) won the high jump (1.65m) for the Ospreys.
Chris Huch (Tuckerton/Pinelands) led the Stockton men’s team by tying for first place in the high jump (1.99m) while Matt Rutherford (Toms River/TR East) finished second in the 1000-meter run (2:43.61). Tony DeFeo (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) registered a fifth-place finish in the weight throw (13.43m) for Stockton as well.
The women’s weight throw proved to be a strong event for the Ospreys, with Stephanie Aromando (Newton/Kittatinny) placing second (13.88m), followed by Kelly Rozing (Hazlet/Raritan) in third (13.21m). Rachel Joseph (Livingston/Livingston) fared well in the pole vault with a third-place finish (3.20m) for Stockton.
