Stockton Women Win CTC Championship

The Stockton women’s indoor track & field team won the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Championship for the first time while the Stockton men finished 10th out of 17 teams. Ronika Eckart (Pt. Pleasant/Pt. Pleasant Boro) led the Ospreys by winning the 55-meter hurdles (8.73 seconds). Eckart then went directly back to the starting line and finished fourth in the 55-meter dash (7.54 seconds). Eckart also placed fourth in the long jump (4.79m) during her busy day.

Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) won the high jump (1.58m) and Rachel Joseph (Livingston/Livingston) won the pole vault (3.25m) for the Osprey women’s team while Chris Huch (Tuckerton/Pinelands) won the high jump for the Stockton men. Meredith Malloy (Hamilton/Hamilton West) finished second in both the 3000-meter run (10:59.36) and 5000-meter run (18:56.96) at the meet.

Amanda Williams (Williamstown/Williamstown) placed second in the high jump (1.58m) behind Shepherd on a tiebreaker. Stephanie Aromando (Newton/Kittatinny) finished second in the weight throw (14.00m) and Caroline DiGiovanni (Hammonton/Hammonton) was second in the pole vault (2.95m) behind Joseph. On the track, Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/Mainland) placed second in the 1000-meter run (3:10.38) and third in the 800-meter run (2:30.92).

Tony DeFeo (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) earned points in multiple events for the Stockton men’s team, finishing second in the pole vault (4.42m) and fifth in the weight throw (13.97m). Ben Hammond (Williamstown/Williamstown) placed fourth in the triple jump (13.30m) and Matt Rutherford (Toms River/TR East) was sixth in the 1000-meter run (2:41.05) for the Ospreys.
