Stockton Women Third, Men Ninth at NJAC Championships

The Richard Stockton women’s indoor track & field team finished third while the Stockton men’s team placed ninth in the NJAC Championships at New York Armory. Four female event winners led the Ospreys. Stephanie Aromando (Newton/Kittatinny) won the weight throw (13.66) for the third consecutive year and Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) won the high jump (1.63m) for the third year in a row. Meredith Malloy (Hamilton/Hamilton West) repeated as the NJAC champion in the 5000m run (18:25.39) and Rachel Joseph (Livingston/Livingston) won the pole vault (3.40m).

Malloy also placed fourth in the 3000m run (10:57.28) and Amanda Williams (Williamstown/Williamstown) finished third in the high jump (1.58m). Ronika Eckart (Pt. Pleasant/Pt. Pleasant Boro) was busy throughout the meet, finishing third in the 55m hurdles (8.75 seconds), fourth in the 55m dash (7.52 seconds), fifth in the 200m run (26.58 seconds) and eighth in the long jump (4.74m).

Tony DeFeo (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) led the Stockton men’s team by finishing second in the pole vault (4.42m). Chris Huch (Tuckerton/Pinelands) placed third in the high jump (1.97m) and Ben Hammond (Williamstown/Williamstown) was third in the triple jump (13.71m) for the Ospreys.
