Richard Stockton (1-1) opened the 2009 season by splitting a pair of games in Myrtle Beach. The Ospreys dominated Bates (ME) 18-3 in a game that was halted after seven innings due to the 10-run rule. Stockton then fell to Alma 9-8 on a two-run, inside-the-park homer in the top of the ninth inning. Scott Fisher (Toms River/TR East) struck out 10 and allowed just one earned run in five innings to collect the win versus Bates. Fisher also went 3-4 with three runs and two RBI at the plate.

Kyle McArdle (Wall/Wall) was 2-4 with two stolen bases and two runs while Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson) went 1-2 with two runs in the 18-3 rout. The Ospreys drew 12 walks and scored in six of their seven offensive turns, clinching the victory with seven runs in the seventh frame.

Against Alma, Matt Hunt (Marlton/St. Joseph) led Stockton offense by going 3-4 with a triple and three runs. Fisher was 2-2 with three walks and McArdle added two hits and three stolen bases. Rob Guiliano (Allentown/Allentown) stroked a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh that gave the Ospreys an 8-6 lead, but Alma rallied with a run in the top of the eighth and two more on an inside-the-park homer in the ninth. Stockton left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth for the 9-8 final score.
