Head Coach: Val Julien
Val Julien enters her 26th season as Stockton’s head coach with the same high-energy style that has always been her trademark. Julien is the longest-serving softball coach in the league and a member of the New Jersey ASA Hall of Fame, into which she was inducted in 2008. She has won 438 games in 25 years on the Osprey bench, with her best success coming in the past decade. Last year, Stockton reached the 20-win mark for the seventh straight year and earned its fourth consecutive ECAC Tournament berth.

Julien led the Ospreys to perhaps their most memorable season in 2010 when Stockton came within one victory of an NJAC championship and set a school record with 28 wins. The 2010 campaign also yielded Julien’s 400th career win, a 3-0 shutout of Baruch on April 1, plus a runner-up finish in the ECAC tourney.

In 2008, Julien led Stockton to its first ECAC championship in 22 years and the first of two straight 27-win seasons. The success of 2008 was the culmination of a four-year run in which Julien led Stockton to at least 23 victories per season and three ECAC tournament berths. During that span, the Ospreys qualified for the NJAC tournament in 2007 for their first NJAC playoff appearance since 2000, and Julien earned her 300th career victory on April 1, 2006 when Stockton defeated New Jersey City 14-2.

Julien coached Stockton to a school-record 25 wins and an ECAC tournament bid in 2005, finishing with a 25-15 overall record. In 2003, she steered the Ospreys to 23 victories, a school record at the time, and their first ECAC tournament berth since 1997. Julien also reached a milestone on March 13, 2001 as she collected her 200th victory with a 4-0 win over Carroll (WI).

Stockton posted its first 20-win season under Julien and fourth straight winning record in 2000. The Ospreys dominated the NJAC Blue Division from 1997-2000, winning the division with an 8-0 record for three straight years and sharing the title with a 6-2 mark in 2000. Julien garnered her third NJAC Blue Division Coach of the Year honor in five years following the 1999 season.

Julien was elevated to the head coach position in 1987 after serving three years as an assistant coach at Stockton under Dot Hirschfeld. She notched her first winning season with the Ospreys in 1990 when she led her squad to a 19-15 mark and a third-place finish in the ECAC tournament.

In addition to her lengthy stint at Stockton, Julien also was active for many years in ASA ball. She served as a coach for the New Jersey Divas ASA Women’s 23 & Under national championship team in 2003 as well as numerous Divas and South Jersey/New Jersey Rebels teams that won regional and state championships.
