Matt Bell (Jackson/Jackson) scored the game-winning goal with 1:57 remaining to lift Richard Stockton (1-0) to a 9-8 victory over Catholic University (2-2) in the season opener for the Ospreys. Keith Bologno (Glen Gardner/Voorhees) led Stockton with two goals and two assists. Bell finished with two goals and one assist while Matt Bologno (Glen Gardner/Voorhees) netted two goals. Stockton goalie Pete Marcelliano (Morristown/ Mendham) earned the victory with 12 saves.

Goals by Bell and Matt and Keith Bologno in the first nine minutes gave Stockton a 3-0 lead but Catholic reeled off five straight tallies and pulled ahead 5-3. The Ospreys responded with four consecutive goals for a 7-5 lead after three quarters. Josh Dybus (Lyndhurst/St. Peter’s Prep) later scored to put Stockton ahead 8-6 with 13:22 remaining. Catholic trimmed the margin to one with a tally at the 11-minute mark and then tied the game at 8-8 with 3:48 on the clock. Bell netted the unassisted game-winner for Stockton with 1:57 to play as the Ospreys prevailed 9-8.
