game 1 / game 2
Richard Stockton (6-3) split a doubleheader against New England College on the third day of action in Cocoa Beach, Florida. In the first game, the Osprey bats were limited to only one run off four hits in a 4-1 defeat. The only run for Stockton came in the top of the fourth inning after a leadoff double by Scott Fisher (Toms River/TR East) led to a Matt Hunt (Marlton/St. Joseph) RBI single. The Ospreys committed three costly errors in the game, two of which led to runs in the first and second innings.

In game two, Stockton’s bats came alive as the Ospreys pummeled New England College 19-3. Stockton tallied two, four and eight runs respectively in the first three frames for a 14-1 lead. The Ospreys tacked on two runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth to add to the rout. Starter Ed Truitt (New Gretna/ Pinelands) earned his first career win as the freshman pitched five solid innings and gave up just one run off four hits and recorded six strikeouts.

At the plate, Stockton had five players record multiple hits, with Fisher’s 3-4 day pacing the team. Fisher followed up a first inning strikeout with three straight hits including a three-run home run in the second inning and singles in the third and fourth frames. The senior finished the game with four RBI and two runs scored. Mike Wasco (Riverside/Riverside), Matt Allen (Salem/Woodstown) and Chris Wedding (Toms River/TR East) also drove in three runs each for the relentless Stockton offense.
