Richard Stockton (10-3) continued its hot streak in Cocoa Beach with two more victories including an upset of No. 2 Salisbury and a win against Nichols. In game one, the Ospreys used a five-RBI performance from Scott Fisher (Toms River/TR East), who also threw eight innings on the mound in Stockton’s 10-8 upset victory over No. 2 Salisbury.

Fisher went 3-4 in the game and also scored two runs to go along with his five RBI. All three of Fisher’s hits were extra-base knocks, one home run and two doubles. On the mound, the lefty pitcher threw eight innings and gave up five runs off eight hits with seven strikeouts.

Heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Ospreys clung to a 4-3 lead before a four-run outburst put Stockton ahead 8-3. Two more runs in the bottom of the eight made the score 10-3 and nearly put the game out of reach, however Salisbury came storming back in the top of the ninth with five runs and brought the tying run to the plate with two outs. Reliever Jay Wilson (Brick/Brick) was able to get the final out of the game, striking out the only batter he faced to secure the 10-8 win for Stockton.

In the second game of the day, the Ospreys pushed across five runs in the first three innings and tallied 16 hits in an 8-3 victory over Nichols. Fisher, Matt Hunt (Marlton/St. Joseph) and Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson) each tallied two RBI while leadoff man Nick DiGirolamo (Dumont/Dumont) set the table and went 4-5 with a run scored.

On the mound, starter Joe Mihayli (Hamilton/Nottingham) pitched eight strong innings and gave up two earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts. Drew Slickmeyer (Stratford/ Sterling) relieved Mihayli in the ninth inning and pitched a perfect frame to close out the 8-3 victory.
