Richard Stockton (13-12, 2-9) staged a late rally that came up just short in a 6-5 defeat at College of New Jersey (16-12-1, 8-3). The Ospreys scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to nearly erase a 6-1 deficit. Scott Fisher (Toms River/TR East) went 3-5 with a run and an RBI Matt Hunt (Marlton/St. Joseph) was 2-4 with a double and two runs scored. Mike Wasco (Riverside/ Riverside) went 2-5 with a double and an RBI as well.

TCNJ took a 3-0 lead before Dan McGuckin (Sicklerville/ Winslow Twp.) singled home Hunt to get Stockton on the board in the third frame. The Lions added two runs in the fourth inning and another in the sixth for a 6-1 advantage. In the top of the ninth, Hunt ripped an RBI double and Fisher notched an RBI while reaching base on an error. Wasco smacked an RBI double and Marc Asta (Jackson/Jackson) scored on a passed ball, but the Ospreys’ comeback was foiled as the game ended on a line drive that became a double play in the 6-5 defeat.
