Swarthmore 5, Stockton 2

Jackie Turner

Richard Stockton (0-2) surrendered the last four goals of the game and fell to Swarthmore (1-0) 5-2 in the Ospreys’ second contest in three days. Jackie Turner (Medford/Shawnee) led Stockton with a goal and an assist. Katie Mattsson (Brick/ Brick Twp.) also scored a goal and Ospreys’ netminder Debi O’Kane (Cologne/Absegami) recorded 10 saves.

Turner netted an unassisted goal at 18:26 to pull the Ospreys into a 1-1 tie. Just seconds later, Mattsson struck for a goal assisted by Turner as Stockton grabbed a 2-1 lead. The advantage proved to be short-lived as Swarthmore tied the match 2-2 only 1:37 after Mattsson’s goal. The Garnet scored again at the 25-minute mark and led 3-2 at the end of the high-scoring first half. Swarthmore pulled away with the only two markers of the second half for the 5-2 final score.
