20th-ranked Richard Stockton (2-0) scored two goals in the first 12 minutes and cruised to a 4-0 victory over St. Mary’s (MD) in the first round of the Elmer Lord Classic at Salisbury University. Pat Tolomeo (Ocean City/Ocean City), Rafael Duarte (Ocean City/Ocean City), Sean McCallum (Vineland/Vineland) and Butch Huff (Toms River/TR North) scored one goal apiece. Stockton goalkeeper Lou Herring (Freehold/Freehold) did not need to make any saves in recording the shutout.

Tolomeo converted a free kick just 1:40 into the game to give the Ospreys the early 1-0 lead. Duarte scored with an assist by freshman Chris Hayman (Pittsgrove/Schalick), his first career point, to put Stockton on top 2-0 at the 11:42 mark. McCallum netted an unassisted goal at 27:30 and the Ospreys led 3-0 at intermission. Huff tacked on an unassisted tally with only 1:46 remaining to seal the 4-0 Stockton victory that gave the Ospreys a chance to win the Elmer Lord Classic.
