Stockton Men Third, Women Sixth at Delaware Valley

Abad Akhtar (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) won the men’s 8k race by 28 seconds (27:03.7) in leading Richard Stockton to a third-place finish out of 17 teams at the Delaware Valley Invitational. Akhtar led a trio of Stockton men’s runners who finished in the top 12 spots. Robyn Evangelist (Northfield/ Mainland) finished 10th (25:24.0) and paced the Stockton women’s team to sixth place out of 15 teams in the 6k race.

Akhtar was followed by a pair of rookies who were competing in their first college meet. Freshmen Matt Ardelean (Margate/ Atlantic City) and Marc Saccomanno (Marlton/Cherokee) placed eighth (28:17.2) and 12th (28:28.3) respectively for the Ospreys. For the Stockton women’s team, Meredith Malloy (Hamilton/Hamilton West) crossed the finish line 14th (26:01.3) and Laura Daniels (Cherry Hill/Cherokee) finished in 42nd place (27:34.5).
